I don’t spend a lot of time talking about Conservative TV & Radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh & Glenn Beck. I’ve made my positions clear through logical arguments based on FACTS, and I’ve also stated the fact that I do listen to both Limbaugh & Beck. I’ve made it clear that I do not always agree with them, and I’ve also made it clear that THEY don’t need me to go to bat every time some whack job starts spreading lies about them. Today, however, I feel the need to speak.
Welcome to the Nanny State, a reality where the Government, at every level, tells you what is good for you, how to live, and what to do. You can get an abortion, but it’s illegal to commit suicide. You can smoke pot if you get a prescription, but you can’t take Ibuprofen if you’re a teenage girl having menstrual cramps. If you shoot someone for breaking into your house and don’t kill them, they can sue you for their injuries, and if you miss a stop sign or go through a red light, Big Brother is watching, and the ticket is in the mail!
The telltale mantra of the Robin Hood Franchise is, “Rob from the Rich, and Give to the Poor.” Now, the “Give to the Poor” side of the phrase infers “Charity,” most commonly defined as a gift from one to another in a time of need, and certainly there’s NOTHING wrong with Charity, right? Well, if Robin were giving his OWN money in a charitable manner, I’d shout, “HUZZAH!” Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case, because the FIRST part of the phrase is “Rob from the Rich.” This, my friends, is Socialism 101!
Not surprisingly, Governor Charlie Crist VETOED the Senate Bill 6 on April 15 at noon. Teachers celebrated. Schools held assemblies. The media ran video & audio of kids chanting their victory. (Birds began singing. The sun came out. The sea levels fell. Oh, wait…)
In 1938, the Government created “The Minimum Wage,” essentially the final legislation in FDR’s “New Deal.” In the past year, the Government has added a “Special Advisor” to the President named Kenneth Feinberg, who acts as the President’s “Pay Czar.” His job is to find out who makes TOO MUCH MONEY! Are we on the verge of a MAXIMUM WAGE?
“Mr. Gorbachev: Tear Down This Wall!” With six words, part of a 26 minute speech, Ronald Reagan brought the Cold War to its proverbial knees. At least, that’s how I remember our history, back when we were taught that Democracy was something worth fighting for, and Freedom & Liberty were RIGHTS endowed to us by our Creator.
Medicare is thought by most to be “Free” Healthcare for the elderly, and, I’ll admit, I once believed that. In fact, I believed that the only cost to the individual to get Medicare Coverage was taken during the years they are working through the FICA Withholding. But, like many who believe these things, I WAS WRONG!
Just in case you missed it in the title, let me state it again. For the Record, I HATE POLITICS! Now, those of you who have read my previous posts may be thinking to yourself, “Well, gee, Todd, that doesn’t make ANY sense at all. All you ever DO is talk about politics.” Those of you who may be thinking that are in for a rude awakening. I do not post about POLITICS. My posts are about PHILOSOPHY.
