FENCES AND NEIGHBORS

“Good Fences make Good Neighbors,” but has the United States been a good neighbor, and how has that affected us as a Nation? Is it time to build new Fences?

BAD BILL (NELSON)

Do you remember why our Constitution defines TWO Chambers of the Legislative Branch? Senator Bill Nelson and 17 Others sure don’t, so it’s time for a reminder!

DRUGS OR BENEFITS

Several States are discussing “Drug Testing” in order to qualify for Unemployment or Welfare Benefits? Is this just more of the “War on Drugs,” or a step in the right direction?

KEEP IN THE VOTE

Tomorrow, November 2nd, is Election Day, the day every two years that puts the true power in the hands of the people to vote for their Candidates, their Issues, and their Principles. Your ticket to participate in this process was purchased with the Blood of our Founders and maintained by the sacrifice of our Brave Men & Women in uniform. It is, without a doubt, the most valuable gift granted to you by our Constitution, and the most valuable protection that we have against the potential Tyranny of Government Oppression. As a Citizen, it is your right to vote, but it is also your PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.

GIRL SCOUT ECONOMICS

I believe that we are teaching our kids the WRONG LESSON when we ask them to stand on the corner and beg for money. It teaches them that it is OK to ask someone else to foot the bill for something that they want, and that it is the responsibility of society to support their leisure activities. And, yes, baseball, football and even the school band are LEISURE activities!

Medicare: The Ugly Truth

Medicare is thought by most to be “Free” Healthcare for the elderly, and, I’ll admit, I once believed that. In fact, I believed that the only cost to the individual to get Medicare Coverage was taken during the years they are working through the FICA Withholding. But, like many who believe these things, I WAS WRONG!

Choosing to Work

So, what’s the key to fixing the economy? How do we move forward and get people back to work? Here’s my answer: GO TO WORK. Even if it isn’t going to be rewarding today, it may be tomorrow. Don’t hold out for the job you want: do the job you can get, and build from there. Don’t just sit on your ass: do something productive with your time.

The Bill of Responsibilities

The time has come to make a change. Here’s my proposal. I call it the “Bill of Responsibilities.” While I am a conservative, I don’t think that this proposal requires a liberal or conservative slant to be considered appropriate. Read it with an open mind. Feel free to disagree, but I ask you to first put yourself in both sides of the equation. I’m pretty sure you’ll find it to be fair. (And, though I have tried to keep this rant brief, I know for certain that I will fail.)
