Time keeps on slippin’…slippin’…slippin…and, apparently, Congress and the President have made absolutely no headway into dealing with the whole Debt Ceiling/Budget Crisis that could mean that, within just two weeks, Social Security Beneficiaries may not get their checks, the military may not get paid, and the entire economy may collapse. Well, at least that’s what [...]

Today’s Post is all about a snappy bit of rhetoric that our esteemed President has been trotting out for weeks. He seems to enjoy painting the picture of our Nation being like a car that’s been run into a ditch. Of course, he claims that the Democrats have been down in the ditch, pushing & pulling, getting sweaty and muscling the car back up on the road while the Republicans have been standing at the top of the ditch “Sippin’ on a Slurpee” and asking for the keys back. It’s a humorous analogy. I even chuckled the first time I heard it. After a couple of weeks, though, I’m sick of it, and I feel compelled to correct our President’s analogy.

Great News! The RECESSION IS OVER!!! That’s right, folks: it’s over. Break out the champagne, put on your party hat and kick up your heels like Michael Flatly in Lord of the Dance! That’s right: true to his word, Obama has cooled Global Warming, Lowered the Seas, Cleaned the Air and Saved the Economy. Can’t you just feel it? Praise be Obama!

Anyone who has ever attended a weekend-long Fraternity Party has likely had this experience. You drink…not because you like what you’re drinking, but as part of a party game or simply to get trashed…and you Drink…because everyone is drinking and the music is loud…and you DRINK…even though you’re already drunk and can barely stand…and you DRINK…even though your gut is swirling, your head is spinning and your liver is screaming “STOP!!!!!”

Now, when I think of inflation, I think of rubber balloons, and I’m going to ask you to do the same…The Balloon represents “Value.” The Air inside of it is Money. When we print more money, the value of money goes down, but the value of the balloon remains unchanged. It needs more money inside of it to remain the same. Take a breath and blow into the balloon. What happens? IT INFLATES.

Allow me to tell you a story. In my mid-20’s, my wife & I were very much like other people in the country. We worked hard, we paid our bills, and we struggled. And then, we got credit cards. We started living above our means. We’d go out to dinner, and we’d pay with a [...]
