It’s funny the way the concept of respect works. If you are being disrespected, you demand respect. If you are the one being disrespectful, then it’s “Just a Joke” or “They’re being ‘overly-sensitive.’” But a world without respect is a dangerous world to live in, and there are lines that should not be crossed. Perhaps that’s the real meaning of “The Golden Rule.”

Racism and prejudice abound in the United States. A few years ago, I would have argued to the opposite point, giving examples of how far we’ve come since the days of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the Civil Rights Protests of the 1960’s. In truth, we have come a long way from the days of Dr. King, the KKK burning crosses and lynching black voters who had the courage to stand for their rights and pursue EQUALITY in America. But “Equality” has taken on a new meaning for some, and it is unfortunate that, as with the radical few who would put on white sheets and commit crimes of hatred and prejudice, thus painting a picture of bigotry and hatred by all whites against blacks, that, in this day and age, there are those who now spew the same kind of vile bigotry from the side of minorities. One such piece of human refuse is a guy by the name of “King Samir Shabazz” of the New Black Panther Party.

The First Amendment tells the Government what it CANNOT do. The Government CANNOT force you to practice any one religion, nor can it stop you from practicing the religion that you choose. The Government CANNOT stop individuals from gathering as a group, and it CANNOT stop those same individuals from challenging the Government if they are wronged. But these Powerful and Important characteristics pale in comparison to this simple fact: The Government CANNOT stop you from speaking out against it, and it CANNOT stop the press from challenging its authority.

There’s a 46 year old man who is trusted by a 13 year old girl. He gives her drugs and alcohol, takes nude pictures of her, and then has sex with her, even though she says no. He confesses to the crime. Would you let him walk? Would you say, “Well, it’s really not that bad, so you should just go ahead and skip jail?” Would you give him an Oscar?

The time has come to make a change. Here’s my proposal. I call it the “Bill of Responsibilities.” While I am a conservative, I don’t think that this proposal requires a liberal or conservative slant to be considered appropriate. Read it with an open mind. Feel free to disagree, but I ask you to first put yourself in both sides of the equation. I’m pretty sure you’ll find it to be fair. (And, though I have tried to keep this rant brief, I know for certain that I will fail.)

I find myself more than just a little angry today, and my anger is directed squarely at the President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama. I’m angry because this President has made a conscious choice to selectively address his proposals for Healthcare Reform to those outlets that have, in the past, been essentially supportive of these plans, while intentionally avoiding those outlets that have been critical.
