ANOTHER LESSON LEARNED…AGAIN

In the time since our financial troubles started in 2008, our Government has repeated the same mistakes over and over again, each time going bigger and more expensively than the time before. TARP? STIMULUS? HEALTHCARE REFORM? FINANCIAL REFORM?! In each case, the margin for passing the bill was so narrow that it literally came down to one or two votes in order to get he deal passed…all with the very VOCAL opposition of the American People, and all in the name of being COMPASSIONATE.

PUKE AND RALLY

Anyone who has ever attended a weekend-long Fraternity Party has likely had this experience. You drink…not because you like what you’re drinking, but as part of a party game or simply to get trashed…and you Drink…because everyone is drinking and the music is loud…and you DRINK…even though you’re already drunk and can barely stand…and you DRINK…even though your gut is swirling, your head is spinning and your liver is screaming “STOP!!!!!”

THE BATTLE OF WALL STREET

Right now, Congress has targeted the “Fat Cats” on Wall Street, seeking to make examples of the investments of Goldman Sachs and other firms who took advantage of their positions to garner tremendous profits, even as the economy dove into recession. They are clamoring for “Reform,” a favorite buzzword of the political class, in an effort to “protect the little guy.” And Congress is offering 1300 pages of reform, pushing for votes for the past two days to bring the bill out on the Senate Floor for debate. And, while I understand the popularity of this push to reform the Investment System, I question if the “Reform” being offered is the BEST move that can be made at this time. Let’s think about this for a moment.

GIRL SCOUT ECONOMICS

I believe that we are teaching our kids the WRONG LESSON when we ask them to stand on the corner and beg for money. It teaches them that it is OK to ask someone else to foot the bill for something that they want, and that it is the responsibility of society to support their leisure activities. And, yes, baseball, football and even the school band are LEISURE activities!

THE 27TH AMENDMENT

Our Founders were well aware of the fact that the Constitution wasn’t a perfect document. It didn’t cover everything, but it did do one thing consistently, and that was to restrict the Powers of Government. Now it’s time to learn about one of the ways those Powers are Restricted!

THE MAXIMUM WAGE

In 1938, the Government created “The Minimum Wage,” essentially the final legislation in FDR’s “New Deal.” In the past year, the Government has added a “Special Advisor” to the President named Kenneth Feinberg, who acts as the President’s “Pay Czar.” His job is to find out who makes TOO MUCH MONEY! Are we on the verge of a MAXIMUM WAGE?

Dollars Making Sense

Somewhere along the line, we seem to have forgotten the basic Principles and Values that our Founders placed on our Economics, which is strange considering that their FACES adorn the currency that we use every day. Here’s a reminder about how our DOLLARS can make some SENSE out of these issues.

Blowing the Whistle

Whistle Blowers are NOT rewarded for revealing the misdeeds of others, particularly when it relates to Liberals and their pet projects. Whistle Blowers face persecution from the public, from the individuals they accuse, and PROSECUTION under the law, even if the EVIDENCE they provide is reliable. Let me rephrase that: When it comes to the Liberal Agenda, Whistle Blowers face PROSECUTION under the law, ESPECIALLY when the evidence provided is reliable.
