THE BATTLE OF WALL STREET

Right now, Congress has targeted the “Fat Cats” on Wall Street, seeking to make examples of the investments of Goldman Sachs and other firms who took advantage of their positions to garner tremendous profits, even as the economy dove into recession. They are clamoring for “Reform,” a favorite buzzword of the political class, in an effort to “protect the little guy.” And Congress is offering 1300 pages of reform, pushing for votes for the past two days to bring the bill out on the Senate Floor for debate. And, while I understand the popularity of this push to reform the Investment System, I question if the “Reform” being offered is the BEST move that can be made at this time. Let’s think about this for a moment.

CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?

I DO NOT CONDONE VIOLENCE! Let me be perfectly clear on this: There is absolutely, positively, without a doubt, undeniably NO PLACE in our society for violence. It is unacceptable for ANYONE to take violent action against ANYONE unless you are literally in the moment of DEFENDING YOUR LIFE! Unless there is a weapon in your face threatening the lives of yourself or your family, then violence in ANY FORM is WRONG! (Have I made myself clear? Do you understand what I’m saying?)

PUTTING THE “FUN” IN “FUNDAMENTAL TRANSFORMATION”

Allow me to apologize for not posting my reaction to the Overthrow of America prior to this point. As John Lennon once said, “Life is what happens when you’re making other plans.” Well, it has been quite hectic of late, and I’ve got a lot to say, but, let’s face it: I’ve pretty much already said most of it, so let’s try something a little different today.

IMMEDIATE U-TURNS PERMITTED

How can anyone claim to love their country when they’ve been raised to believe that it is “Fundamentally Flawed” or designed to “Profit on the Workers’ Backs?” This isn’t a rhetorical question, and I’d love for someone to explain it to me. Seriously…anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

The House and the Senate

Congress is separated into two distinctive bodies: The House of Representatives and the Senate. One question I always had in school, which was never answered in class, I might add, is “Why are there TWO houses?” I mean, really, what is the purpose of having two different groups of people who all share the job of writing and passing laws? It doesn’t make any sense…unless you actually take the time to READ the Constitution.
