SO WHAT HAVE WE MISSED? by

OK, so, clearly I’ve taken a little time off from posting, partly to clear my head, and partly because each of the posts I’ve been working on have either needed more attention than I have had time to give them last week, or because I didn’t feel that they successfully conveyed my points. Either way, Mea Culpa: my apologies for making you wait. But time hasn’t exactly stood still in my absence, so what have we missed? How about a quick recap!

Anthony’s Weiner Resigns

That’s right, folks: On June 16th, Anthony’s Weiner made the announcement that he was going to resign from his seat in Congress to the cheers and jeers of a live audience. Now, personally, I don’t think he should have resigned. Why should he? It’s not the first time that he’s lied and everyone knew it, so what made this so different? In 2010, Weiner convened a CONGRESSIONAL HEARING to investigate Glenn Beck’s sponsor “Goldline” over the rising price of GOLD, arguing that Beck & Goldline were somehow manipulating the price of gold for their own profits! So now Weiner tweeted his package to some women who aren’t his wife. Does that make him a bad Congressman? Should his Constituents demand his resignation? History has already shown the fact that he’s a liar is irrelevant (He was re-elected AFTER the “Goldline” affair), so the only person who had the RIGHT to be upset with Anthony’s Weiner is his WIFE!  (And, I’ve just got to say this: Huma “Weiner” Abedin has a little bit of a Lorena Bobbit look to her, so Anthony’s Weiner should probably sleep with one eye open…that’s all I’m saying about that!)

It’s not a War: It’s a TOGA PARTY

Oh, yeah, folks: President Obama seems to be going out of his way to push the envelope over our involvement in the Libyan Civil War. As I’ve addressed previously, our involvement without the prior consent of the Congress was already a violation of the Constitution, and his failure to obtain a resolution from Congress within 60 days of the start of our involvement violated the War Powers Act of 1973. Now, at 90 Days, we stand at the verge of a Constitutional Crisis. On June 18, TheBlaze.com reported that President Obama “overruled” the Justice Department and the Pentagon by claiming that our involvement in Libya didn’t qualify as “Hostilities,” which would require the need for Congressional Approval. Apparently, our President is unaware of the DEFINITION of Hostilities, so let’s try to clarify this for him. According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, the definition of “Hostilities” includes “Overt Acts of Warfare.” OK, let’s dig a little deeper. Overt: “Open to View.” Warfare: “Military Operations between Enemies.” Well, Mr. President: I would say that dropping BOMBS on a FOREIGN COUNTRY for WHATEVER REASON would qualify as a “Military Operation,” and I certainly doubt that Muammar Qaddafi would consider these actions as being particularly friendly, so perhaps you’re hoping that the PEOPLE of the United States simply aren’t AWARE of what’s going on, which would keep it from being “Open to View;” however, since we DO know that it’s going on, bombing Libya ABSOLUTELY qualifies as HOSTILITIES, and you are ABSOLUTELY in violation of the Constitution and the War Powers Act. Meanwhile, while we hit the 90 day mark of this MILITARY OPERATION, our Congress is PLEADING with the President to at least acknowledge Congressional Authority, and a Bi-Partisan Group has actually filed suit over it. The outcome of this crisis could very well determine the future of TWO countries. If we cease operations in Libya, Qaddafi could very well win this Civil War, and if operations continue WITHOUT resolving the issue of Congressional Authority, we very well may be seeing the first steps toward creating a DICTATORSHIP in the United States. Stay Tuned: either way, this is going to seriously affect our future.

NBC: Not Being Conservative

“I Pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic, for which it Stands, One Nation, Under God, Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for All.” This has been our Nation’s Pledge since the days of Eisenhower, when Congress added the words “Under God” to the Pledge for the first time. In 1969, Comedian Red Skelton explained our Pledge in terms that any American could easily understand, and the importance of “Under God” in that Pledge. Well, the folks over at NBC should really watch this video, because during the opening of the US Open Tournament, their “Patriotic” presentation of The Pledge omitted TWO important phrases. The first was “Under God,” which has been increasingly omitted by our President, other Politicians and media outlets as well. The second omission, the one that disturbs me perhaps even more than the omission of “Under God,” was the word “Indivisible.” Omitting this word certainly fits with the divisiveness of this Administration and the President’s Supporters, who have gone above and beyond over the past two and half years at vilifying those who are most likely to be able to fix the mess that has been created (by BOTH Parties, I might add) while simultaneously making things worse. Our Nation is divided, perhaps as much as we were at the time of our own Civil War, and perhaps even worse, because at least then we understood why we were divided. Today, we aren’t divided by Race or Ideas, but by Party and Rhetoric. We are divided by empty promises and hateful threats. We are divided by a Powerful Minority that understands that the only way to maintain their power is to keep us divided. At Gettysburg, Abraham Lincoln described our Government as being “Of the People, By the People and For the People.” This Powerful Minority has Fundamentally Transformed our Government into “Of the Strong, By the Few, and Against the Many.” And while omitting “Indivisible” may seem like nothing to worry about, a negligible oversight that shouldn’t be of any concern at all, let me as you this question: What kind of Government do you think that we have in the United States? If your answer is “Representative Republic,” congratulations: you’ve been paying attention, but I can guarantee you that the vast majority will answer “Democracy,” because that’s what has been drummed into our heads for the past 100 years by our schools, our television programs and our Government’s Propaganda! (Remember: “Making the World Safe for Democracy?”) It’s the unchallenged changes that PROGRESSIVELY cause the most Fundamental Transformations in our Nation, and it’s time to stand against it. So, No: I do not accept NBC’s empty apology, and I do not forgive their clearly intentional omission.

Until we meet again…
