“IT CAME FROM HAWAII” – Though this sounds like the title of one of those REALLY cheesy horror movies from the 50’s & 60’s, it’s more like a “Kick to the Groin” of the so-called “Birthers” who have made the argument for years that President Barack Obama is NOT a “Natural Born American Citizen” and, therefore, ineligible to be President. For the record, I’ve never subscribed to the Conspiracy Theory. (Yes, I’ve joked about it periodically, but I’ve never subscribed to it.) The reason is that it all seems just a little too far-fetched to me. Any “Con Artist” will tell you that the more elaborate the lie, the less likely it is to succeed.

Now, don’t misunderstand me: I’m not suggesting for even a moment that the things that our President has supported since taking office are NOT destructive to our Nation. Don’t assume for even one second that I’m in his corner on his version of “Health Care Reform,” “Cap & Trade” Energy Policy, “Welfare for Everyone” Keynesian Economics or “Global Governance” subordination to the United Nations. In fact, I can’t think of a single position that the President Supports that I share…NOT ONE…with the possible exception that he’s actually ELIGIBLE to be President.

But the controversy isn’t over with the release of the President’s “Long-Form” Birth Certificate. Nope: not even a little bit. The most common response to this release is, “Well, it must be a fake, because it took so long to release it.” Really? Let’s go back to what I said about the “Art of the Con:” “The more elaborate the lie, the less likely it is to succeed.” So why did it take so long? As with most things in life, I believe that the EASY answer is the most likely: it’s a DISTRACTION!

On the same day that the President released his Birth Certificate, FED Chairman Ben Bernanke made history by holding a Press Conference about the Federal Reserve…the first in the 97 years since the FED was created! He admitted that Inflation was on the rise (by about 2.1 – 2.8% this year) and that Economic Growth was down (3.1 – 3.3% from 3.4 – 3.9%). What does that mean? Well, what Bernanke didn’t say specifically is that this means higher consumer prices overall and fewer consumers that can afford to pay them! Of course, the General Media isn’t interested in painting that picture. Their version of the story generally suggests that inflation would be temporary, and while oil prices are on the rise, it’s a result of production issues, not inflation. (Of course, OPEC has actually raised output in recent months, and prices have continued to go up, so it’s not a production problem…it’s an inflation problem.)

While we’re on the topic of Distractions, let’s talk for a moment about Donald Trump. Now, I don’t have a problem with Trump. If he wants to run for President, that’s his prerogative. I won’t be voting for him (because I actually want a CONSERVATIVE candidate), but he’s already shown his Birth Certificate, so he CAN, but let’s be clear about something: Donald Trump is NOT a Conservative. And before you come at me and say, “Well, at least he understands Business,” let’s keep in mind that he knows how to play by the EXISTING rules. What he’s proposing in regards to Tariffs on Foreign Trade and his waffling positions on things like Health Care and Taxation make clear that he is NOT the right candidate for me. And before you say, “But he could win!” Yeah, that’s true, and that’s what scares me. “Anybody but Bush” got us Obama, and look where we are because of it. Oh, yeah, and keep in mind that Trump’s History in Business reveals that he builds businesses and then sells them, leaving someone else to hold the bag, or collapses them in bankruptcy, leaving someone else to hold the bag. He’s not a “Business Genius:” he’s a Looter! But he’s also a distraction. While everyone’s talking about “Trump for President,” they’re not talking about the REAL ISSUES.

Oh, yeah, and let’s not forget the BIRTHER distraction itself. Think about this for a moment: the continuing arguments over the eligibility of Barack Obama to BE President is a continuing distraction to the REAL ISSUES that we are facing. Look at all of the “Evidence” that has been circulating on the Internet and through e-mails, including a “Kenyan Birth Certificate,” the investigations by “Trump’s Private Investigators” and the Upcoming Book that argues his ineligibility to be President. Really? Can we PLEASE focus on the FACTS for a few minutes? Yeah, it would be great if you could pull down his pants and find a “Made in Kenya” sticker on his butt-cheek, but maybe if we spent a little “Quality Time” investigating the very REAL and IMPEACHABLE violations of his Constitutional Authority with the Executive Orders issuing a Moratorium on Oil Drilling and Attacking Libya, we might ACTUALLY be able to make some real progress on limiting his power and restore the Control of our Nation to where it belongs: With the People through the Congress!

So don’t be distracted by the Illusion, and start to pay attention to the “Other Hand.” In the words of The Who: “We Don’t Get Fooled Again!”
