Keeping it Calm. by Ron Hansen
Once again, our illustrious Congress, in its infinite wisdom, has foregone the business of passing the required 13 annual appropriation bills, determining the fate of the “Bush Tax Cuts” and failed to come up with a budget for the current fiscal year that began two months ago. The government will run out of money at midnight, if they do not pass a resolution to pay the necessary debts of government, to say nothing about illegal aliens crossing our Swiss cheese border like they are out for a Sunday afternoon stroll.
But have no fear, your Congress is on the job. They have passed the CALM act by a wide majority (actually a voice vote, so no actual names were recorded).
You may ask, “What is the CALM act?” It is the Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation act. Are you getting it yet? This means that when a commercial comes on your TV, they can’t increase the volume any more. Thank God for that. Now I don’t have to use my mute button or my DVR to skip over the commercials.
I just can’t wait to see what’s next.

So, Ron, Good Post, but let me get this straight: you don’t think this is a VALUABLE use of their time? (Just kidding.) Personally, I see this waste of time as a good thing. While I’d certainly prefer that they pass an extension of the “Bush” tax cuts, the fact that they’re wasting their time on this type of garbage is much better than some of the other things that could have been done during this “Lame Duck” session.
Absolutely. I’d just as soon pay them all to stay home. It would be cheaper in the long run and they couldn’t screw things up.
