MORE WOLVES AND LAMBS by T. Edwin Perry
Sometimes, the direction I want to go in a Blog changes dramatically. I’ll go off on a tangent inspired by a stray thought and end up somewhere completely different from my intended destination. Sometimes when that happens, I scrap the whole damn thing and start over. Yesterday, I didn’t.
The quote that inspired this is Benjamin Franklin’s line, “Democracy is Two Wolves and a Lamb voting on what to have for Lunch. Liberty is a Well-Armed Lamb contesting the vote!” But I wonder what Benjamin Franklin would say about other the other forms of Government and Philosophy that are currently being promoted as alternatives to our own.
Here’s what I think he’d say:
MARXIST COMMUNISM is one Wolf promising two Lambs that they’ll be equally devoured.
SOCIALIZED COMMUNISM is one Wolf convincing two Lambs that they should be happy to be devoured.
SOCIALISM is three Lambs slowly consuming each other.
PROGRESSIVISM is two Wolves disguised as Lambs convincing a Lamb to devour itself.
CAPITALISM is one Wolf paying a Lamb for lunch.
MODERN DEMOCRATS are Lambs who think that they’re Wolves having Lamb for dinner.
MODERN REPUBLICANS are Wolves who think that if they act like Lambs then the Lambs won’t be out to get them.
LIBERALS are Lambs who are convinced that they can turn the Wolves into vegetarians.
CONSERVATIVES are Wolves who realize that everybody has to eat.
