IMMEDIATE U-TURNS PERMITTED by T. Edwin Perry
How can anyone claim to love their country when they’ve been raised to believe that it is “Fundamentally Flawed” or designed to “Profit on the Workers’ Backs?” This isn’t a rhetorical question, and I’d love for someone to explain it to me. Seriously…anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
As I’ve said before, I am a Conservative. I believe strongly that our Nation was founded on strong and reliable principals of Individual Economic & Social Freedom, the Equal Liberty to Succeed or Fail based upon our own merits, and the idea that Government is not the Solution, but, most often, the Problem we must overcome. These were the beliefs of our Founders, and, if you doubt it, I dare you to read the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. As a Conservative, it is my belief that we must “Conserve” and protect these ideals and pass them on to each Generation.
Unfortunately, over the past hundred years, our nation has fallen prey to the Progressive Agenda, and, yes, it is just that. Start with Theodore Roosevelt and move forward, and you’ll pretty much see a trend, regardless of party, which expands the Powers of the Federal Government through the claim of “Social Justice” and “Democratic Ideals,” always at the cost of the Freedom and Liberty of the Individual Citizens.
The Social Security Program and Medicare System deprive you of 7.65% of your income on the promise that you’ll have a supplemental income in your “Golden Years,” but are consistently on the verge of bankruptcy and provide little, if any, real support. The Public School System teaches about how great Socialism is, but limits any real study of American History to the past 100 years, with far more attention paid to Malcolm X than Thomas Jefferson. The rights of the States to be represented in Federal Government were STOLEN by the 17th Amendment, placing the power to elect Senators in the hands of the population, which was already directly represented by, oddly enough, the HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES!
The past 20 years have given us NOTHING but Progressives in the White House. George H.W. Bush believed that the Government could solve Social Issues with more spending. He was wrong. William Jefferson Clinton? More Spending: Same Results. George W. Bush? Like Father, Like Son: More Spending, More Debt, Same Results. Barack Hussein Obama? Spend Faster, and can you Super-Size that?
In fact, the last Conservative we had in the White House was Ronald Reagan, and even he eventually succumbed to the pressures of Social Spending towards the end of his Administration. Before him, we have to go all the way back to John F. Kennedy! (That’s right, he was a Conservative…primarily…even though he was a Kennedy.)
But school kids aren’t taught about the ideals of our Founders, and why would they be? The entire creation of the Federal Department of Education (we didn’t have one before Jimmy Carter, by the way, and we all know what a GREAT President HE turned out to be!) was a means of stripping yet another power of the Individual States and appointing it to a Centralized Federal Government! Why would the D.O.E. want to teach that our FOUNDERS were in favor of limiting the power of the Federal Government and protecting the powers of the States, and of the People? Wouldn’t that undermine their authority?
The sad thing is that most of us seem to be blind to the cliff we’re heading toward, and there’s only one real solution to the destination that our Nation is heading toward: a U-Turn. Beyond this point, there be dragons! We need to pay attention to the GPS that our Founders installed when the Nation was FIRST BUILT! We need to get our spending under control, restore the powers of the states, and get the hell out of the way of business, just as our Founders had intended. If we don’t, we face the inevitable conclusion of the Progressive Agenda: an All-Powerful Central Government and a severely Restricted Population. (Think that sounds like the “Land of the Free and Home of the Brave?” Sounds more like Russia, China or Venezuela to me.)
I love my Country because of what it STILL has to offer: Freedom, Liberty, and Opportunity. I just hope that people will figure out what is going on soon enough to avoid losing these things…PERMANENTLY!
