Didn’t We WIN the Cold War? by T. Edwin Perry
“Mr. Gorbachev: Tear Down This Wall!” These were the words of Ronald Reagan in June of 1987, which rang throughout Eastern Europe as a clarion bell of freedom. He was speaking of the Berlin Wall, over 100 miles of concrete and steel, electrified fences, guard posts, and armed guard towers to keep the citizens of Communist East Germany from ESCAPING to the freedom of Democratic West Berlin. It had been built in 1961 and would be torn down just two years after this call to action by President Reagan, thus signaling the end of the Cold War.
The Cold War was unlike any other war we’ve ever faced. Yes, there was violence. The cold war could be linked to the Korean Conflict, once known as a war BEFORE history was revised, and the Vietnam Police Action, which was also known as a war before revisionist history. There were lies, spies and political prisoners. There was the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Bay of Pigs Invasion. It included the carnage of Pol Pot, and Mao Tse Dong, and the oppression of Cuba. It was Socialized Communism vs. Democracy and Freedom, a no-holds-barred cage match to the death where both sides had the power to permanently end the conflict through the Mutually Assured Destruction of Nuclear Annihilation.
But with six words, part of a 26 minute speech, the Cold War was brought to its proverbial knees. At least, that’s how I remember our history, back when we were taught that Democracy was something worth fighting for, and Freedom & Liberty were RIGHTS endowed to us by our Creator.
Throughout the Cold War, which started shortly after the end of World War 2, through the fall of the Berlin Wall, American Children were warned about Communism in their schools. We were taught how dangerous this philosophy could be, how it oppressed the common citizen through poverty and scarcity of goods, and how easy it would be for our form of Government to be overtaken by it. Unfortunately, the seeds had already been sewn, and those who supported Socialism and Communism were well aware that they only needed to patient to see the fruits of their labors. If you doubt this claim, I dare you to study Woodrow Wilson and his “Second Bill of Rights” and compare his philosophies to those of Karl Marx in the “Communist Manifesto!”
Some people see the arguments in my posts as a type of “Pro Conservative Propaganda,” but I don’t believe that my beliefs require Propaganda. I don’t need to tell you what to believe while I do something completely different behind a curtain of lies. I don’t need to do that because I have facts to support my conclusions, and many of those facts lead me to the conclusion that we didn’t win the Cold War at all: We lost it and we didn’t even know.
Today, there are School Teachers with pictures of Vladimir Lenin and Che Guevarra hanging on their walls…in the United States! Could you imagine what would happen if they had pictures of Hitler on their walls? (It wouldn’t be any better, but at least it would evoke an appropriate reaction.) Al Gore and his “Inconvenient Truth” scare kids into believing what has been proven to be blatant lies, and has literally told them that “They know more than their parents!” Socialism is taught with reverence, while Capitalism and American History are treated as being the heart of evil and oppression.
We are standing on the precipice of the kind of legislations that will oppress our nation for generations and, much like the overthrow of Russia and China and all the other countries that fell to Communism, the STATED INTENT of the REVOLUTION is to be compassionate, and equalizing, and providing SOCIAL JUSTICE! And while the recent election of Scott Brown in Massachusetts may provide some interference to those plans, I find it hard to believe, after all their aggression in the past year, that those in favor of these legislations will abandon their quest after one upsetting election.
I refuse to sit by and accept it, which is why I post the things that I do. If this were Russia, or Germany, or China, I’d be lined up against a wall and shot, but, for now, I have the Constitution to protect me, and so do you.
Stop hiding with your head in the sand. Look around. Listen. LEARN WHILE YOU STILL CAN! Did you know that the Internet, that great source of free information, is constantly being “SANITIZED FOR YOUR PROTECTION?” Information about people being appointed by our Government in positions of power is being scrubbed from Google and Yahoo and every other search engine because, if you can’t find it in the first five results, most people won’t know it exists! And those who dare tell you about the things that are out there, and you can find the quotes on your own once you do, are ridiculed and vilified by the popular media so that YOU won’t listen to what they have to say.
When Russia was overthrown by the Communists, the teachers, artists and lawyers were the first to be executed or sent to “re-education” camps, removing their threat to the newly-formed Government. China followed this same example, as has every other country that has transitioned in this manner. Children are taught at very young ages to mindlessly follow the teachings of Communism, and rarely hear the truth about Capitalism or Democracy. Today, we are Living on the Edge, and the winds of change are blowing stronger and stronger towards the gap. If we don’t start resisting, WE ARE DOOMED!
Fortunately, we still have our Constitution. We can fight back without ever firing a shot. We don’t need bullets or bombs, or rakes or sticks, or whatever we can get our hands on. We have our Freedoms of Speech and Assembly. We have our Freedom to Stand Together and Resist! We have our voice, and our Vote! I urge you: Don’t succumb to the pressure. Don’t yield to the wind. Open your eyes. Open your ears. Start studying on your own. Don’t take what I have to say as Gospel. Don’t blindly follow Rush Limbaugh, or Glenn Beck, or Keith Olberman, or Wolf Blitzer. Don’t automatically disregard the words of Nancy Pelosi, or Harry Reid, or Barack Obama, or John McCain, or Sarah Palin. You want answers? Go get them for yourself, and then LEARN FROM THEM. Figure out for yourself who’s selling you a bill of goods, and who is actually going to represent YOU! I know who I believe, and who I don’t, but I still question them ALL!
I’ve said for a long time that the difference between myself as a Conservative and others as Liberals isn’t very much at all. We all basically want the same things. It’s just the means to reach those ends that need to be justified and defined. But if we don’t act now, if we don’t stand up and defend our FREEDOMS NOW, they WILL be gone tomorrow.
We didn’t win the Cold War. The War Rages On!
