Medicare: The Ugly Truth by T. Edwin Perry
Medicare Part D: Once again, there’s an additional monthly premium for “most people,” but it helps with prescriptions, which are not covered by Parts A or B. There’s a catch, though: If you elect NOT to enroll when you are first able, there’s an additional penalty if you sign up later. Part D is technically provided by “Private Companies,” and the patient picks from a group of options. (Good luck picking the right one.) And, like Part C, since it is provided by PRIVATE COMPANIES, the price varies based on the plan you select.

Fact: With Enrollment, Medicare provides services to millions who would not otherwise be able to afford ANY Medical Care.
Fact: The Government has, for decades, portrayed Medicare as the do-all healthcare plan for the Elderly.
Fact: Medicare is a doomed program, and is consistently on the verge of bankruptcy, as millions sign up for this program along with Social Security expecting “FREE” healthcare throughout their retirement years.
The Medicare program is a flawed Government invention with lofty goals and drastic failures. It’s most significant failure is to change with the times. By encouraging people to “Retire” and accept Social Security & Medicare as their support, the Government has ensured that these programs are doomed to failure. Remember, the “Retirement” age of eligibility for Social Security and Medicare is as early as 62.5. As of 2005, the average life expectancy for Americans was 77.8. That’s an expectancy of more than 15 years of coverage for only 1.45% of your annual gross pay during your working years. Mathematically speaking, it just does not make sense.
But, I’m not the kind of person to just point out the problems. I do like to propose solutions, so here goes. The Government needs to be honest with the public. Instead of promising a plan that it cannot support, it should provide the plan as it was originally intended and represented. People should understand that Medicare and Social Security were intended as “Safety Nets,” not “Savings Accounts.” Instead of encouraging retirement at 65, the Government should encourage people to KEEP WORKING until such time as they are unable to do so. Then, and only then, should these programs be relied upon for support. Those who can independently afford to retire should feel free to do so, but they need to rely on their own savings and investments to pay for it. It’s about people taking personal responsibility rather than subjecting themselves to Government Control.
So now you know the ugly truth about Medicare. Are you still looking forward to Government Healthcare?
